Guy

This 80’s-90’s r&b trio consisted of Aaron Hall, Teddy Riley and Timmy Gatling. There first album was a self titles album called “guy”. It was an instant smash with hits like “I like”, “Groove me” and “Spend the night”. Teddy Riley went on to produce a ton of major hits from then on most known is probably Bobby Brown’s “Don’t be cruel” album then to form his own band Wreckx-N-Effect. Riley has also worked with Kool Moe Dee, Michael Jackson (Dangerous), Stevie Wonder, Keith Sweat, Jane Child, and SWV, among others. Guy also provided songs for soundtracks to “Do the right thing” and “New Jack City”. In 1989 the group was in turmoil. Aaron Hall’s brother was shot and killed. Which lead to the firing of the manager and then the dismantling of the group. Aaron Hall went on and released a solo album The Truth in 1993. Teddy Riley went on to start another group called Black Street. Guy re-united in 1999 to release Guy III.
